I started this blog on Sunday and it is already Friday today. I have 9 posts up and I feel that I have learnt so much this week. How exhilarating.
I applied for the free wordpress site in December and finally got around to start blogging last Sunday. I thought it would be a walk in the park but man, was I wrong. What the hell are posts and pages, and tags and categories? And how do I drive traffic to my site? And how do I ask my friends ‘gently’ to visit my site, at least 3 times a day?
Before I started, I thought, oh blogging seems so easy. Snap a few pictures, write a few paragraphs, have a title, make it all mine and it is done. NO… it is not. But it is true what they say – when you are interested in something, you will find ways to make it work. I googled queries that I had on blogging, learnt on the wordpress learn site, thought of how to drive traffic to the blog, re-read things that I thought I read before but could not recall. I have not been on the internet to search for anything that much before, trust me. I am basically an IT idiot. And I realised the greatest joke of all, I actually spelled ‘jack russell’ as ‘jack russel’. How dumb. If you realise, my free wordpress name is baconandjackrussel.wordpress.com. It should be double L.
I learnt so much this week. Needless to say, my heart stopped when I clicked the ‘Publish’ button. I nearly fainted when I realised a stranger read a blog after I just published it. Someone actually cares enough to read what I wrote. OMG.
Even choosing a picture to put on the blog is mind-boggling. And reading the same draft at least 15 times before you hit the ‘publish’ button is daunting. I blog till 2am everynight as I have a full-time job.
It is so exciting and I enjoy it so much. I think of what to blog about when I go to sleep and I think of what the title will be. I have since changed my title and my domain name today to the right ‘RUSSEL’. Oops, RUSSELL.
I am so grateful to YOU, for stopping by and reading and if you even liked, subscribed or commented on any of the posts, thank you so much.
